The SRST Consultancy Service
Site Specific Requirements

We aim to advise and train our Clients in the current best practise and help the Client to meet the requirements of the latest safety and environmental standards, as defined in the Control of Major Accidents and Hazards (COMAH) legislation.

The Client may need:
  1. Verification, (and if necessary updating), of the installation written operating and emergency procedures to comply with best practise, the ISO 9000 standard, and the COMAH (1999) safety and environmental legislation
  2. Inspection of the Chlorine and/or Hypochlorite process installation and storage area to meet best safety and housekeeping requirements.
    1. The Client will receive a site-specific report that details specific non-compliance within the Chlorine operations workplace.
    2. The report will also provide advice and appropriate solutions where necessary, to enhance safety and environmental operation. This would include any recommendation for staff training if required.
  3. A complete (a)formulation and (b)practical testing of an onsite and offsite (3-tiered*) Emergency Plan to meet the requirements of the COMAH legislation:
    1. SRST have years of hands-on ChlorAid emergency response experience and have worked alongside the Public Emergency Services on many occasions. We will make all the arrangements for you.
    2. *First: A table-top exercise in-house.
*Second: A table-top exercise with the members of the Public Emergency Services
*Third: A full 'live' practical exercise with the Public Emergency Services, as required by COMAH.
  4. Historically, the Chlorine industry has an excellent safety record. This is partly due to the excellent standards of engineering demanded by the authorities, and the training and expertise of the operations staff working within it.
Unfortunately, from time to time, chlorine-related incidents do occur. SRST will on request, investigate and produce a review of events, following any Chlorine or Hypochlorite-related incident.
A full investigation and written report will be produced for circulation within your own organisation, and, anonymously if requested, to the ChlorAid organisation to share any learning from the incident.
